Transcript: John Richardson's comments at the MITC program

DECD supports programs like MITC because DECD's role is to improve the quality of life for all Maine businesses and residents. MITC's main goal is to promote the expansion of Maine's economy through increased international trade in goods and services and related activities and they have done a phenomenal job in assisting Maine companies expand into international markets. According to the US Business Roundtable, International Trade and Foreign Investment account for over 143,000 good paying jobs in Maine and total exports for this past year will reach $2.7 Billion. Our business programs and resources, our community development initiatives and our policies are advancing Maine's position in the global economy. The weakening U.S. dollar will create huge export opportunities for Maine and we need to look for new ways to grow and expand our trade to compete in a global economy. MITC is working hard to create an ever more business-friendly state. In order to stay competitive in the global market we all need to work together to seek out opportunities to help Maine continue to expand overseas.
