John Richardson's comments on Community Development Block Grant programs

Community Development Block Grant funding is a key component to the Department of Economic and Community Development's efforts to support Maine towns and assist them in competing in the global economy and attracting new business. These grants will be used toward strengthening the economic vitality of Eastport, Milbridge and Harrington through improvements to infrastructure and projects to spur civic growth.

I believe community development leads to economic development. It is through programs like Community Development Block Grants that we can build strong communities and provide the foundation we need for a strong economy. This program has contributed to revitalizing our communities in many ways and I am pleased to work with the area's Business Development Specialist, Janet Toth, all of our Community Development staff and be a part in today's events.
